As I said on the main site, I know I speak for everyone involved with the club in passing on our condolences to Helen and the family and that it was an honour to have known Kendo.
He battled hard for years but he is now at peace.

Kendo was truly a football legend. He loved the game and would put a smile on the face of everyone he met. He had numerous quotes and sayings but the one I always remember was "You play for the badge on the front of the shirt not the name on the back". You will be missed. RIP

I consider myself fortunate to have worked alongside Kendo, as coach to Tony Beckingham.
The guy knew his football inside out and could tell a decent player within ten minutes of seeing him.
Two abiding memories.....firstly, when Tony, Kendo and Tony (Prime) first arrived, they asked me to get them forward. I got them Liam Baitup from Eastbourne Town......Baitup arrived overweight, unfit and lacking any interest in football.
I was almost embarressed watching him as he was regularly substituted and missed chance after chance. Kendo pulled me aside and simply said, "Baitup is a player. We just need to get him playing". It didnt happen immediately, but that summer when we met to discuss players, both Tony B and I were reluctant to give him another season, but Kendo insisted and said we'd all look stupid when he started scoring for someone else.....Baitup turned up, worked hard and scored 30 goals that season despite missing the last two months of the season injured......
Secondly, his one liners were legendary!!!
"Head on a stick" was a favourite of mine for any centre back who couldnt play!!
"Throw your eyes at it" anytime he needed someone to make a header, was another!!
But i laughed out loud one game (and still smile now as i remember) when the opposition full back gained a few yards for a throw in by creeping along the line. Kendo, looked at him in amazement and simply said, "If you wanna have a walk mate, ill get you a sponsor"!! The guy didnt know where to look as the entire bench erupted.....
A lovely fella. Good company and an asset to any football club.
God bless you Kendo and as you would say,
"All the Georgie"
