I have just read the club website. Tony Beckingham has resigned. The club has appointed Simon Funnell as our new manager. I liked Tony, on the whole i feel every decision he made was in the best interests of the club. Not everyone agreed with his ideas, but still. Sad to seem him leave. Simon Funnell i feel is a good appointment, respected in local football. No doubt he will have alot of contacts in the game. Going back to yesterdays game. The first half we were far the better team. Lyons and Death both had chances. Also Shane Goldsmith pulled off a good save. At half time i was confident we would go on and win. A couple of decisions from a player and the referee and before we know it we are two nil down. The third goal was a well worked routine from a corner. The two goals at the start of the second half knocked the stuffing out of us. 1 Goldsmith, 2 Powell, 3 Watts, 4 Collier 5 Jones 6 Pelling 7 Morrison 8 Gellatly(Capt) 9 Lyons, 10 Death, 11 Ethrington. Subs Chick, Wilson, Fort, Prime. Good to see Dave Gellatly as captain. Always leads us well.

Yes sad news that Tony is leaving !
He has done a lot for the club and I certainly believe he deserves that recognition. Its good nowadays to be thinking of winning the league and not trying to survive in it ! , well done Tony and Thanks
Tony always had time for the people of EGFC, and went out his way to chat to people like me that travel to away matches. I'm pleased that he will still come and watch matches and understand how difficult it is to get away from work sometimes especially in the week and then to travel.
Lets all now get behind Simon, and I wish him well in the new position.
