As an outsider looking in, though one has seen the odd game, the situation doesn't appear to be to rosy at present, although as we all know things can change, but the national cups fiasco at seasons start had left the club with just the local cups and the league to focus on, which must have left the club a bit down to say the least.
Like most sides you seem to have changed personnel as most clubs do but results have been dissappointing which is a shame as the ground is really fine from a viewing point of view, anyhow keep your chins up, will still be keeping a 'beady eye' on the results from now on.

We haven't had the season we were expecting and not entering the FA Cup and Vase didn't help but things aren't that bad. We now have a new manager in Simon Funnell on board, had a good result last night against AFC Uckfield where we displayed excellent team spirit and hopefully we can kick on for the rest of the season. We are still in the RUR cup a competition we have often done well in in the past so that could give us a chance of some silver come the end of the season

It was a shame about the F A Vase and F A Cup. With the appointment of Simon Funnell i feel a fresh start has begun. I read a report of last nights game on the Sussex Nomad website, written by a A F C Uckfield follower who says that E G Town F C are one of the best sides he has seen this year. We are still in the SSC and the RUR Cup, i fancy us to get a result on Tuesday away to Worthing. So i feel the Season has been given a kick start.

HERE IS THE REPORT MUSHY MENTIONS
SCFL Div 1
East Grinstead 1 AFC Uckfield 0
Following an undeserved defeat on Saturday against Sidley , Uckfield travelled the 10 miles to East Court . Jack Divall moved-up from rightback to right wing with Chris Gould rested on the bench . Starts for Brad Manton in centre midfield , Sam Scanlon replacing the suspended Greg Manton at Centre Half and Grant Harrison coming into the right back position . A damp evening saw a slippery surface on a wide pitch against a side looking to impress their new manager .
The early effort for AFC came on 2 mins with Ryan Knight’s surging run forward from left back ending in a shot over the bar . The home side’s response came on 8 mins with a shot from the left at a tight angle forcing a save at full stretch from Betts with only fingers assisting the ball over the bar for a corner . McDowell made his presence felt on a couple of occasions around the 15 mins mark with darting diagonal runs onto through balls alerting the East Grinstead back four to the danger but alas the moves not ending in a clean shot on target . Parity at half-time 0-0 . A finely balanced game with the home side probably just edging the better opportunities to score .
The drama came immediately in the second period with AFC forcing an early save from the East Grinstead keeper with McDowell attempting a bicycle kick from the rebound which went over the bar . The home side promptly went of the attack which resulted in 5 corners in the first 10 mins . The game was being played at high tempo with the home side sharp , busy and working extremely hard . Their best chance came on 57 mins with a shot slipping under the keeper and going out just left of the AFC upright . 65 mins saw McDowell drive a low ball across the face of the East Grinstead goal with the keeper saving the shot from Jack Divall on the left . The home side’s breakthrough came shortly after on 66 mins with the ball out from the keeper to their left back who popped it over the top for the player to cut inside and slot away nicely on the lefthand far post . 1-0 . AFC’s substitutions saw Drew Greenall come on for Brad Manton and Chris Gould replacing Jack Divall on 70 mins . A further substitution came on 78 mins with Alex Burton coming on for Lawrence Edwards . The last 10 mins of normal time (in addition to the 5 minutes added on) saw the game played at break neck speed . The visitors seemed to come to life and started to work hard to dominate . Some really good chances in the closing stages with the East Grinstead keeper called into action on a number of occasions . It was a case of too little too late with the final score 1-0 .
The first consecutive loss of the season against one of the best sides we’ve seen play who deserved their win on workrate alone . AFC left it too late to step-up a gear and assert themselves on the game . In early periods of the second half the visitors back four were put under too much pressure with Sam Scanlon at Centre Half having an outstanding game . Lessons to be learned regarding work ethic going forward . The game was well officiated , played in good spirit by both sides , without major incident but in very damp conditions !
