We played well in the first half and finished strongly with the AFC Uckfield keeper pulling off saves. We sat to deep in the second half, but still could of won it with Hillier forcing saves from AFC Uckfields keeper. Next Saturday we are now away to Hassocks 3pm. Some of the midweek fixtures are being moved to Saturday once clubs have been knocked out of cups. I spoke to Simon Funnell he said we are injury hit at the moment. I asked him about Raynes Park he said we did okay in the first half. He felt their first goal from a corner should not of stood. The second was a tap in after a hopefull long ball was not cleared. Going back to yesterday, i felt Miles Neville did well at centre half. Belli caused them problems down the left, he was chopped down twice. A win would give everyone a lift.

HERE'S HOW AFC UCKFIELD SAW IT:
News > Points Shared in Local Derby Clash AFC Uckfield 2-2 East Grinstead
Saturday saw AFC resume league affairs after the cup victory over Molesey. East Grinstead Town made the short journey to The Oaks with both teams having a sticky start to the league campaign. Drew Greenall had transferred to Div 2 club Eastbourne United to get regular football. Phil Bartholemew, Lucas Mann, James Rhodes, Jake Shelton, Grant Harrison and James Bywater were all unavailable for selection. For the second week in a row Uckers got off to a purposeful start threatening the visitors goal with some early counter attacks. The deadlock was soon broken on 12 minutes when Andy McDowell worked the ball to Sam Schaafe from the left for him to play a teasing ball in behind the left back for Jack Divall to run onto, assume the responsibility and stroke home. The visitors woke up and reacted to the goal by starting to attack build. It wasn’t long before they got their just deserts with a corner on 23 minutes. The ball was swung in from the right and the home side failed to deal with the second ball which was smashed in from 6 yards. AFC failed to react to the goal and it was East Grinstead that took the initiative by pressing to double their account. On 33 minutes a scrabble in the home goal mouth saw a save at point blank range from Buss roll left of the post. A quick reaction from the East Grinstead forward saw the ball retrieved and played back to the penalty spot for the unmarked player to put away. No response from the home side much to the annoyance of the Uckfield bench. HT 1-2. Some choice words at halftime for the home side made for a much better performance second half. Some hard work down the right saw a surging run from right back Ben Putland who dug the ball out from the goal line on 59 minutes and dinked a looping ball in front of goal for leading marksman Schaafe to extend his tally. On 72 minutes young George Jones was introduced to inject some energy into the attack at the expense of the provider Putland. A minute later a long ball was played forward to Schaafe and despite the two centre halves in attendance he still managed to shrug off the challenge, turn and attempt to lob the Grinstead keeper whose finger tips at full stretch spared the blushes for a corner. On 82 minutes a reckless challenge saw Brad Manton cut the East Grinstead player in half just outside the box only for the victim to retaliate, cue two yellow cards. Last 5 minutes was evenly balanced end to end fare with both teams looking to secure all three points. FT 2-2. On balance of play a draw was a fair result. A better display from the home side second half after a slow reaction to the Grinstead goals in the first half. Away in the second round of the Vase to league favourites Peacehaven next week so Uckers will be huge underdogs, but every dog has his day ! AFC – Buss, Putland, Gacias, B Dartnell, Porter, Pollard, Divall, G Manton (c), Schaafe, B Manton, McDowell. Subs – Barnard, Saunders, S Dartnell, Jones

A forum is for people to post with a common interest and share thoughts and ideas in this case about EGTFC. Why do you think I am spoling the forum? Be interested to know.
Let's hope for 3 points re Hassocks. Didn't make it to Uckfield, in fact last time I went there was when they were called Wealden I think. Is the Oaks a nice ground?
Cheers
