Bos,Hampson,Miles Neville,Etherington,Mannie Neville,Pelling,Belli,Gellatly(c)Hillier,Saunders,Sebulia. E G Town Subs Wilson,Burns,Davies,Funnell Davies for Miles Neville, Burns for Saunders, Funnell for Etherington. Burns scored for us with a header after 80 minutes. A disappointing performance. We had chances, but we gifted them goals. Still Redhill on Tuesday. This result maybe a blessing in disguise.

MLS, why would a 6-1 defeat be a blessing in disguise?

Buzzer, i did think my comment it could be a blessing in disguise. May raise a few eyebrows. What i meant by that comment was against AFC Uckfield, Raynes Park Vale, Lingfield the performances were okay. I thought we deserved more out of those games. Against Hassocks i thought we were poor. We gave Hassocks three goals through sloppy errors. Also i felt the spirit of the side was low and heads dropped. I do not think it is my place to criticize the team. As i feel in general that does not help anybody. We all see things differently where players should play etc. Going back to blessing in disguise. Most teams who get hammered the previous game. Get a result the next game. Also individual players will look at there own game and have a look at themselves and come back stronger.

Rather bemused by your layout of the halftime and fulltime scorelines.
Wouldn't it be easier thus :- Hassocks (3) 6 East Grinstead (0) 0 this is the normal presentation these days

Mike whatever way i wrote the score. It doesn't hide the fact we lost 1-6. Bad goals as well. A neutral in the crowd thought the second goal should of been disallowed for a foul on a Grinstead defender. I felt the keeper was impeded for the fourth, but i am biased. The fifth and six goals were very poor. I noticed on the Sussex Nomad Forum you keep posting about the first manager getting the sack. Your prediction is Simon Funnell why is this? Early in the season, lots of injuries abit premature? I can understand your reasoning though. Are you coming on Tuesday against Redhill? Another one of your managerial casualty predictions. Always pleasing to see you at East Court. Nice to see you support local football.

We are a well run little club. Div One is about our summit. What makes people demand more is the fact that Crawley Town and Crawley Down have kicked on over the past 3 years and we are starting to look like we are at a crossroads/on a downward trend.
Directors need to decide if we are local club, with young local players. Perhaps a feeder type club or are we going to push on and move up to Ryman and beyond.
Personally, for a town of 40,000 people and growing, a large catchment area to our South and East, I feel we should be performing better.
In terms of instant improvements to our team - lets work on fitness. Other teams seen quicker and have more stamina. Lack of ability is forgivable, lack of fitness is not.
Prediction v Redhill 1-1 draw.

Apologies for a second post, but having re-read my post at this late hour, I want to clarify my point.
In essence, a decision needs to be made as to what the medium term plan is for EGTFC:
1. Are we going to be a local focused club, with local, young players who move on up the ladder when ready - aka a 'feeder club'. This would potentially cap our ambition to Div One survival each year.
OR
2. Are we ready to push on to the next level, as shown by the Crawley teams and invest in a future playing at a higher level. I also reference examples such as Lingfield, AFC Uckfield as teams who used to be far inferior to us now pushing past us.
My dream is to see EGTFC in the Ryman, with 250+ crowds every week.
Who knows if this can become reality, but at present we don't seem to have got things quite right.
Regards
Woody

Woody,
I dont think you can quite compare East Grinstead Town to Crawley Town! They are 2 completely different scales...
Besides money has driven Crawley Down and what they are now spending at this time is something else. A couple of their players probably get paid the equivalent to the whole East Grinstead Squad put together! Also you say about getting crowds of 250+, Crawley down certainly down get anywhere near that either...
East Grinstead is a well run local club with a mix of local players and players from the surrounding area. It has not been the best of starts but injuries and unavailabilities have hampered and besides the Peacehaven and Hassocks games, all have been by the odd goal.
Dorking Wanderes - (0-1) Horhsam YMCA (1-1) - deserved to win Lingfield (1-2) - deserved to win, 2 dubious penalties Raynes Park - Unlucky in both games AFC Uckfield (2-2) - Again could have won this
We will end up in a safe mid table position come the end of season.

I take your points. The comparison with the Crawley teams (inc 3 bridges) is to say if we show ambition, we can get to the Ryman. Perhaps we need to lose the small town club mentality. Still, I will always be a Wasps fan. I was in Div 3!

woody you are embarrassing yourself. Everyone knows you do not not watch us play. What East Grinstead Town F C need is to lose people like you. Whose only aim is to laugh at the club.

At least I didn't desert them for 10 years to watch QPR home and away using my free rail pass.

A bitter fool woody. Embarrassing yourself even further.
Your attempts to get a raise from people has backfired.
Only getting a raise from yourself. People see through you.
The only fool around here is you.

Putting aside the difficulties the team are having at the moment i must admit i always like visiting the GAC from the viewing point of view, the stand on the raised surface giving a great panoramic view of the game, also the PA system that you can hear very clearly in said stand, something we in CDG are lacking.
Overall a smashing ground to visit, with jovial banter from the Chairman unless i can evade him, and always a friendly welcome from the tea lady to the gateperson.
I think you've gained another follower - well after CDG of course! Good luck to Simon also hope he turns the teams fortunes round soonest.
