Cobham Reserves 0 East Grinstead Town Reserves 4 A really good solid display by the Ressies. It was a game we controlled from the start and were able to score 2 goals in each half. Grant Rigler and Michael Belli scored first half goals with Sam Fildes and Scott Woolley adding second half goals. We could have scored more but, as important, we kept a cleansheet and were rarely troubled at the back. This Saturday we have the Sussex Intermediate Cup Semi-final against Eastbourne Town; which will certainly be a stern test for the team but one we are all looking forward to.

A really professional performance ahead of a semi final on Saturday! Restricting the home side to just a few chances and looking dangous everytime we went forward!!
The second has to go down as Woolley's goal, the linesman said it was all ready over the line after hitting the underside of the bar.
Roll on Saturday!!

Lucio, The goal panel gave the goal to Belli not your good self. Becks was surprised to see your name on the goalscorers list so don't get greedy and try and claim two. Even better news last night was that Merstham drew 0-0 at home to Horley Town in the Suburban League.

The linesman said to all the boys and Gav out side the mini bus that it was over the line!! He said he flagged as Belli put the ball in the net!!
Great result for Horley!!!

As the controversial linesman in this topic,
i would like to state:
The ball had already been followed into the net by the number 7, before i had the chance to raise my flag,
The ball HAD crossed the line, so therefore a goal, great free-kick, great follow up though.
impressed with your team last night, i will let you dispute who gets the goal though!

Michael Belli is not the brightest member of the team and has trouble working a computer but he did send me this to post on the forum.
Bore off wooley, the ref said the linesman didnt flag so it was my goal, FACT. The same lino ur referring to at half time didnt say anything to me about him putting his flag up either. You were also seen slipping him a £5 after the match so he would change his story. Great free kick nevertheless but unfortunately only an assist for you and the goal is mine.

Played in the game last night and thought I would post on here. For me the free kick by Woolley was top quality but no1 knew if it was over and bells done a good job following it up! I actually looked over at the lino when it came off the bar and he definately did not react or wave his flag so therefore I think it's belli's goal as if he didn't put it in I honestly don't think it would have been given

I was ref last night for the match and thought it was a very good game in which you fully deserved the 3 points.
Regarding the disputed goal... At the time i have to say i thought it was the midget who followed up the free kick's goal. However after speaking to simon the lino after the match, he said the ball had in fact already crossed the line. As he is 92 though i cannot fully trust that he even knew what incident we were talking about let alone see if the ball had crossed the line. Therefore i think the goal has to go to the player following it up.

Dave, I think you have a few things incorrect in your report. The linesman in question was only 88 years old and his name was not Simon but Cyril. However you were correct about the goalscorer - he is a midget.

I am most definately not 88 nor 92 years old,
But yes, my name IS Cyril,
Whoever 'dave' is, i don't know!
I infact did wave my flag, but no real point as the ball was followed up into the net anyway!
If you lot are going to take it so seriously, it is the free kick takers goal!
Number 7 actually was quite the annoying player, so not at all worried by giving the goal to somebody else...

The number seven is a melt!!!!
So i say the ball already crossed the line, and was the freekick takers goal.
