The writing was on the wall. When the club is unable to put a side out against Colliers Wood. Plus the first team were without a game. Good luck to Bob Smith and Chris Presland.

MLS - it's been a bit of an annus horribilis for Wasps this season. From the FA Cup/FA Vase admin issue, through to managerial changes and an 11 game losing streak mid-season. Still at least we have kept Div 1 status. We need to keep moving forward, otherwise we may fail to build on the strong platform built over the last couple of years. Don't want to go back to the dark days again of the early 1990s in Div 3. I remember in particular a 2-6 reverse away at Mile Oak, where Donfrancesco had a nightmare in goal. Keep the Faith, Woody.

Woodman, We have stabled abit since Simon Funnell appointment. SCFL Div1 has a wide gulf in class. The reserves were always was going to be a struggle this season. When the manager and players left en masse to Crawley Down. At one stage there was talk of not having a reserve team. I did email the chair to say i would run it untill they got someone decent. Bobby Smith is a good man and i can see the thinking already. Under 18 to the reseves then the first. The dark old days have gone forever. Too much hard work has gone into the ground, pitch etc. Plus the FA want to merge leagues. We are one of the few clubs which meet the FA Dictact. I was lucky in the fact that during the late 80's early 90's i was following QPR around the country so only saw EG Town a couple of times a season. So missed some of those performances you witnessed in that time span. Pity really.

To EGTFC committee, Bruce T and MLS. Crazy idea but why don't we put a few first teamers in reserves so they win a few games and stay up. First team safe and mid table. Would be good for the club as a whole reputationally. Regards Woody (writing live from the Ship Inn).

Mark - I post as a guest but am serious. No-one replied to my suggestion re boosting reserve team to may be give them a chance to stay up. I have followed the club for 20 years. I can only post remotely so can't work out how to get a user name. Appreciate all your good work and please don't stop. Hope QPR stop up - signing Cisse was a bad decision - he's half mad...

I would suggest Saturdays home reserve match v Uxbridge is an opportune time to put my policy in action. Boost the reserve team for the better of the club as a whole.

Random great marches involving wasps:
1. EGTFC 1 Brighton 0 - was for the Rose Bowl (donated by Queen Vic hospital). A strong Brighton side, our keeper (White?) had a blinder and we nicked the winner. Massive crowd - around 1,500 if I recall.
2. EGTFC 0 v Fulham 0 - Royston Connor had a great game in goal. He subsequently had a trial with Fulham but broke his leg in the trial match - unfortunate to say the least.
3. EGTFC 2 STAMCO 0 - Friday night game c1990s, we had 300 in the crowd. Doran and Norris up front. Great game. Stamco Chairman arrived in a Bentley and was having good banter with the Grinstead faithful.
Feel free to add others...
